Allan Okello to Miss First Half of UPL Season – Vipers Confirm

Vipers, the Uganda Premier League team, has officially announced that their recent acquisition, Allan Okello, will not be available for the entirety of the league’s first round.

The news was confirmed in the team’s official statement released on a Monday afternoon.

Last month, Allan Okello made a high-profile move to Vipers on a three-year contract after his contract with Paradou came to an end.

Initial reports suggested that the talented midfielder was slated to undergo knee surgery before returning to competitive football.

However, Vipers has now clarified that Okello won’t require surgery. Instead, he will focus on rehabilitation and recovery and is expected to resume full training at the commencement of the second round of the season.

The club’s statement reads as follows:

“Knee injury update: Okello underwent scans which revealed that he will not require surgery, contrary to earlier reports. The scans indicate that the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and meniscus are both in good condition, with only minor cartilage damage that is currently being treated. It is anticipated that Okello will rejoin full training at the start of the second round.”

Okello’s absence is undeniably a significant setback for Vipers, who are aiming to secure their third consecutive league title. He is widely regarded as the country’s premier creative midfielder.

In his absence, Vipers will rely heavily on Bright Anukani to spearhead the team’s creative efforts. The team has already notched two league victories this season, defeating Gaddafi and Arua Hill along the way.
