Patrick Mbowa restored equilibrium with a second half goal as Vipers and SC Villa played out a 1-1 draw in a thrilling game at St Mary’s Stadium at Kitende.

Villa had a dream start when Gavin Kizito capitalized on a close-range opportunity after Vipers failed to clear the ball from the danger zone.

Throughout the match, the visitors exhibited unwavering determination, defending with an indomitable spirit and showcasing a positive outlook as they ventured forward.

Then, in the second stanza, Mbowa delivering the much-awaited equalizer that ignited the home crowd.

Villa goalkeeper Norman Angufidru will take blame on the goal after he failed to have a glimpse of the ball when he came away to punch out a corner kick delivery, and Mbowa was there to pounce.

Vipers had a golden opportunity to clinch the victory – Eric Kambale, a debutant, found himself in a point-blank position to score the winning goal, but he fluffed his chance.

Yunus Sentamu, earlier on, had all the time but sent a Volley over the bar with a goal at his mercy as Vipers searched for an opening.

Bright Anukani saw his freekick finger tipped by goalkeeper Angufidru while his effort later on was headed over by Arnold Odong with a keeper already beaten.

Milton Karisa and Karim Watambala also had chances but couldn’t get past Angufidru.

Villa had Umar Lutalo fire over the bar in one of their few chances in the second stanza.

Prior to Friday’s epic clash, Villa had lost all their last three visits to Kitende without scoring a goal.

And a point will be welcomed given their failure to show up in the second half.

Vipers move to eight points in four games while Villa are now on five.
