Preview: Vipers Seek Return to Winning Ways

Vipers aim to return to their winning form when they face Bright Stars on Match-day Five of the Uganda Premier League at Kavumba.

The defending champions began the season strongly with consecutive wins against Gaddafi and Arua Hill.

But they stumbled in their last two games, drawing against Mbarara City and rivals SC Villa.

In the match against SC Villa, Patrick Mbowa’s second-half equalizer salvaged a point, while Eric Kambale missed a late scoring opportunity.

Vipers now seek to regain control and catch up with early pacesetters Kitara and BUL, who maintain a perfect record after five games.

Bright Stars, on the other hand, have only secured two points from their first four games.

It’s been a challenging start for the team under new coach Joseph Mutyaba, who took over from Asaph Mwebaze.

Their points came from draws against Wakiso Giants and URA but they suffered defeats against BUL and Bright Stars.

Notably, Bright Stars have consistently conceded just one goal per match this season, and their offensive department needs to step up.

Last season, Bright Stars managed to take four points from Vipers in the league – A goalless draw in Kitende and a 1-0 victory at Kavumba, thanks to Emmanuel Loki’s goal.

Additionally, Bright Stars won 1-0 in their last meeting with Vipers at Kavumba in the Uganda Cup.
