SC Villa clinched a well-deserved 3-1 triumph, marking their return to winning form after outplaying a struggling Arua Hill in a contested Uganda Premier League match held at Wankulukuku.
The second half proved to be the turning point for SC Villa, as Ronald Ssekiganda, Umar Lutalo, and Peter Onzima became the architects of the Jogoos’ second victory of the season.
Arua Hill, despite Frank Kalanda’s late goal, couldn’t reverse their fortunes, despite a commendable first stanza.
Ssekiganda initiated the scoring spree just two minutes after the break with an exquisite volley from outside the penalty area, setting the tone for Villa’s dominance.
Lutalo doubled the lead with 20 minutes remaining, capitalizing on a precise free-kick delivery from Ivan Bogere, leaving Arua Hill’s goalkeeper, Richard Anyama, stranded on his goal line.
In the dying moments of the game, substitute Onzima showcased his skill, bypassing defenders Jafar Kerepi and Nelson Mandela before elegantly sealing the victory.
Arua Hill managed to salvage a consolation goal still in added time, with Kalanda’s slight touch redirecting Gaddafi Wahab’s free-kick into the net.
Nevertheless, this defeat added to Arua Hill’s struggles, marking their sixth loss in seven games and solidifying their precarious position as strong contenders for relegation this season.
On the other hand, SC Villa’s win – their second of the season having beaten NEC at Wankulukuku – pushed them to eight points from six games, especially noteworthy as their anticipated Kampala derby against Express was postponed.
What Next – Villa visit Mbarara at Kakyeka on November 23 while Arua Hill will host UPDF the following day in Adjumani
