Mixed Results For Cricket Cranes in India

Match Day five of the Cricket Cranes’ tour of India witnessed mixed results as the side returned to action on Thursday.

The Cricket Cranes after securing their first win of this tour on Tuesday took a rest day, but their return to action came with yet another loss albeit with a second win for themselves.

On both occasions, Jackson Ogwang’s team faced the same opposition. The side faced off against Omtex ICWC, and their morning game ended in form of a 6-wicket win in their favour.

The game saw the return of all-rounder Dinesh Nakrani whose bowling display earned him the Player of the Match award.

Nakrani instigated a bowling attack that restricted Omtex to only 124 runs. With his three wickets, Frank Nsubuga (2), Innocent Mwebaze (2) and David Wabwire’s one, Omtex could only manage a paltry 124.

Ronald Lutaya who has been Uganda’s most consistent player in this tour then steered the chase that ended in the 17.5 Over.

His 50 was his second half century in this tour, and Uganda’s third overall.

Robinson Obuya was a 36 not out while Fred Achelam (10) and Roger Mukasa who batted down the order at three down recorded 12.

The afternoon game was also a chase for Uganda, but they were not successful as Omtex won by 21 runs.

Nakrani (26) and Obuya (29) had given the Cricket Cranes a chance at their chase with a steady partnership, but both were caught in between five balls.

The remaining wickets couldn’t mount a challenge as Uganda registered their sixth loss in India.

Nakrani (2), Nsubuga (2), Mwebaze (2) and Kenneth Waiswa (1) all had their names in the wicket column, but Omtex did just enough to get their second win against Uganda.

The sole purpose of this tour is to fine tune the Cricket Cranes ahead of their maiden appearance at the World Cup.

They will finalise it tomorrow against the same side, and Ogwang will be hopeful his charges have picked a thing or two as they continue with their preparations.
