African Games: Uganda Hippos Down Senegal To Reach Semis

The Uganda U20 Men’s National Football Team, the Uganda Hippos, continued to impress at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Morley Byekwaso’s side secured their second consecutive win by defeating Senegal 1-0 on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The win sends Uganda to the semifinals with a game to spare having beaten Nigeria earlier.

The lone goal came in the 26th minute when Arafat Kizza Usama was brought down in the box, leading to a penalty that was initially missed but converted on the rebound by Allan Oyirwoth.

Despite Senegal dominating possession early in the game, Uganda’s defense stood firm, thwarting their attempts to score.

With the win, Uganda now looks ahead to their final group stage match against South Sudan, scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday.

In other Group B action, Nigeria secured a 1-0 victory over South Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium, setting up an exciting final matchday in the group stage.
