KCCA sealed a league double over their rivals Vipers, clinching a stunning 1-0 victory in added time, in a thrilling encounter at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The decisive moment came when substitute Mustafa Kizza confidently converted from the spot, sending the KCCA fans into wild celebrations.

Referee Ali Sabila pointed to the penalty spot after Saidi Mayanja’s effort was blocked by a hand inside the box, providing Kizza with the opportunity to seal the win.

This victory marks KCCA’s second triumph over Vipers this season, following their 3-1 win in the reverse fixture at Lugogo.

Kizza, who proved to be the hero once again, previously netted the only goal as KCCA eliminated URA at Lugazi.

The defeat dealt a blow to Vipers’ title aspirations, leaving them eight points adrift of league leaders Kitara, who have played two more games.

KCCA showed dominance even before the late drama, playing with freedom and posing threats on multiple occasions.

In the absence of suspended Shaban Muhammad, Abu Mayanja spearheaded KCCA FC’s attack and posed questions for the opposition defense despite limited opportunities in the box.

One of his standout moments included a bicycle kick that narrowly missed the target.

Peter Lwasa received an aerial delivery but his shot narrowly missed, while Ashraf Mugume was thwarted by goalkeeper Jack Komakech.

KCCA’s midfield led by the energetic Mugume and Sserunjogi dominated proceedings, but Vipers created the best opportunities, for a side that lost Yunus Sentamu to injury in the first half.

Fazil Tumwine’s header from Milton Karisa’s cross was well saved by KCCA goalkeeper Athony Emojong.

Allan Okello, facing his former team, almost broke the deadlock with a back-heel flick, but Emojong was equal to the task.

KCCA defender Filbert Obenchan came to the rescue with a goal-line clearance to deny Vipers, while Karisa squandered a golden opportunity from close range and Bright Anukani’s volley went over the bar.

The win, first for KCCA at Kitende, sees Abdallah Mubiru’s side move eighth.
