Former KCCA Goalkeeper Joins Non-league Side in Blackpool

Former KCCA goalkeeper Ali Mwirusi has signed for Squires Gate Football Club, a non-league English club after impressing for the side’s U23 category.

The goalkeeper, who was a revelation secondary schools football for Amus College School, Kibuli Secondary School and St Mary’s Boarding school – Kitende was confirmed as a new Squires Gate player on a two-year contract.

“We’re pleased to confirm that we have added goalkeeper Ali Mwirusi Ramadhan to our First-Team Squad, with the young keeper impressing for our U23’s and in the Global Football Network programme,” the club announced on Monday.

Formed in 1948, Squires Gate is a based in Squires Gate, Blackpool, Lancashire in England – currently playing in the North West Counties Football League (NWCFL)

Squires Gate are currently playing at the 9th level of the English Football Pyramid system, eight tiers below the English Premier League.

After spending thirty years in the West Lancashire League, in 1991 Mwirusi’s new team was elected to the NWCFL Division Two, and are currently the longest serving in the NWCFL Premier Division club.

Squires Gate are double winners of the Blackpool & District Amateur League First Division championship in 1956 and 1957, plus the Blackwell Cup winners I 1959 and 1960.

They are also previous winners of the West Lancashire League Division Two in 1981, Rawling Shield winners in 1949, Fylde Cup winners in 1961, Bannister Cup runners-up in 1961, Richardson Cup winners in 1987 and NWCFL Division Two Trophy winners 2001.
