Uganda Cup: BUL Target First Leg Advantage Against NEC

Sunday, April 28
•BUL FC Vs NEC FC – Njeru, 3pm

BUL will be locking horns with NEC at Njeru Stadium in the Uganda Cup, with both teams eyeing a crucial first-leg advantage.

The showdown follows a recent league fixture where NEC emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win at Lugogo, courtesy of Barni Kelvin’s decisive strike.

BUL’s coach Abbey Kikomeko felt his team’s disappointment, especially after a costly error by goalkeeper Tom Ikara that led to NEC’s goal.

However, despite the setback, BUL maintains their status as favorites in the tie, boasting extensive experience in the competition. Having reached the final twice, including a triumphant victory in 2022, BUL carries the weight of expectation as they aim for another shot at the title.

On the other side of the pitch, NEC enters uncharted territory, playing at this stage for the first time in their history. Buoyed by a remarkable debut season in the top flight, NEC is eager to capitalize on their momentum and make a mark in the Uganda Cup.

Their earlier encounter at Njeru Stadium in the league resulted in a hard-fought 1-1 draw, with BUL salvaging a late equalizer through Samuel Ssekamatte after Rashid Okocha had put NEC ahead.

BUL received a boost with the return of Hillary Onek from suspension, while NEC welcomes midfielder Wahab Gaddafi back into the fold, although the availability of Shamir Kimwero remains uncertain, adding an element of intrigue to the upcoming clash.
