Amus beat Kitende: Watch highlights and interviews:

Amus College have eliminated holders St Mary’s SS Kitende after tense penalty shootouts in the semifinals of the ongoing USSSA Boys Football Championships in Masaka.

Amus were eliminated by Jinja Progressive (JIPRA) after a 3-0 defeat on Friday, but successfully petitioned as JIPRA were found guilty of ineligible players.

And on Saturday, they defended relentlessly and held on for a goalless draw before winning 10-9 in penalty shootouts.

Isa Bugembe had his header cleared off the line, Hakim Mutebi fired over while Denis Kisiriko arrived a second late to miss a neat cross as Kitende missed chances in normal time.

And in tense shootouts, Jamal Ssemwogerere saw his penalty parried away to sink Kitende, as Nimrod Kintu’s Amus College stormed the final.

Isa Bugembe, Olimi Nyarwa, Ronald Madoi, Abubakar Walusimbi, Simon Mukisa, Juma Ssajjabi, Denis Kisiriko, Steven Yiga, and Simon Mubiru had converted for Kitende.

Amus converted all their penalties, with Genesis Odiya, Abdurazak Muzamir, Sam Owalamu, Toto Najub, John Otim, Christopher Lubulwa, Idd Rashid Juma, Musa Masengere, and Alvin Ssekamatte among the scorers for Amus.

It’s the end of the road for Kitende, who previously eliminated St. Charles Lwanga Kasasa, Nakaseke International, and Kimanya at the Round of 32, 16, and Quarterfinals respectively.

Kitende will not be able to defend the title they have won for the last three editions in 2023 (Fort Portal), 2022 (Arua), and 2019 (Jinja).
