SC Villa Stage Comeback Against Wakiso Giants

Uganda Premier League record holders SC Villa staged a remarkable comeback from being two goals down to clinch a 3-2 victory against Wakiso Giants at Wankulukuku.

Second-half strikes from Ronald Ssekiganda, Reagan Mpande, and Umar Lutalo sealed the win for the Joogo.

Wakiso Giants led 2-0 before the half hour mark thanks to goals from Samson Kigozi and Hassan Ssenyonjo.

Despite a shaky start, SC Villa’s resilience shone through, with Kenneth Ssemakula and Umaru Lutalo playing pivotal roles in the turnaround.

SC Villa could have conceded more in the first half but Kenneth Kimera couldn’t burry away two golden opportunities, as he was denied by goalkeeper Braddy Wokorach.

However towards the stroke of halftime, Samson Kigozi sent the Visitors in the lead after he caught Gavin Kizito in possession.

With just 11 minutes into the second half, Hassan Ssenyonjo doubled Wakiso’s lead capitalising on a counter attack launched by Shariph Kimbowa.

However, seven minutes off the hour mark, Ronald Ssekiganda rose highest to head in Gavin Kizito cross as Villa started their comeback.

As pressure mounted on the Visitors, SC Villa’s Umaru Lutalo drew matters level from the penalty spot.

A few minutes later, fresh from the bench, Reagan Mpande completed Villa comeback to ignite wild celebrations.

The win propels SC Villa to 3rd place on the league table with 48 points after 26 games, while Wakiso Giants remain 12th with 29 points.

Next up, SC Villa faces relegation-threatened UPDF FC, while Wakiso Giants host Mbarara City on Saturday, May 11th.
