Friendly: Vipers To Test Guns Against Katwe United

Uganda Premier League outfits Vipers SC are expected to test their players who are recovering from injuries in a friendly against Katwe United.

The Venoms will meet promoted Big league team Katwe United in a friendly at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Geoffrey Wasswa is expected to play a part. The defender has not played a single minute in the league this seaoam since injuring his knee.

He had a surgery in June and featured in a recent friendly last week against Busiro (Ssaza team) that ended one all.

Action between Vipers and Katwe United in a recent friendly at Kitende

Frank Zaga Tumwesigye was stretchered off against KCCA in the Super Eight final against KCCA at Wankulukuku and has consequently missed the team’s three league games. He has returned to training with the team recently and was also part of the team that played against Busiro.

Henry Kitegenyi who missed the team’s 2-2 draw against Mbarara City FC is also expected to feature.

Mohamed Shaban has been recovering steadily but its unknown whether he will be given some minutes.

The friendly is to fine tune the team ahead of their clash with bitter rivals SC Villa on October 2.

The sides will be meeting for the second time this month – Vipers 3-1 at Kitende on September 11. Rashid Toha, Denis Mwemezi and Fahad Bayo were on target for the Venoms while Joshua Kaliisa scored from the spot for the ‘Tuli Banyiivu’ team.

Vipers’ last friendly saw them beat Kajjansi United 5-0 with Bobos Byaruhanga, Brian Kalumba (2), Brian Nkuubi and Umar Kyebatala on target.

Katwe lost 2-0 to URA on Tuesday at Mwererwe with Brian Majwega and Shafic Kagimu on target for the tax collectors.

Notably, the Allan Ssewanyana bankrolled side held KCCA one all at Lugogo on September 7.

Katwe, coached by Express FC trainer Hassan Mubiru, has recently signed Eric Dhaira and Joel Male and will be favourites to clinch top flight status when the Big league starts.
