Uganda beat Kenya to win the Inaugural Cecafa U17 championship hosted at FUFA Technical center Njeru after a 2-0 win in the final game on Tuesday afternoon.
Team captain, also the FUFA Airtel best player of the year Juliet Nalukenge and tourney’s MVP Fauzia Najjemba scored the match day goals which saw Uganda finishing on top of the five teams with 13 points after a round robin.
A seven days action packed football down in Njeru, saw Uganda beating the likes Burundi, Eritrea, Djibout and drawing against Tanzania before winning cecafa U17.
“I first thank the Almighty God who has enabled us to win the Cecafa trophy,the first one in Uganda, I thank the entire team, particularly Shakira Nyinagahirwa, Margret Kunuhira and Fauzia Najjemba who had a better game compared to others.
“I again thank the fans for the support, We have played really well and all the teams have been competitive,” coach Ayub after final game.
Winning the cecafa U17, is the second for Coach Ayub’s team that also won the Cosafa U17 championship held in Mauritius where Uganda went as a guest nation.
