Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Mike Sulaiman Mutyaba has been denied a Police bond.
Mutyaba who spent Friday night at Old Kampala Police Station is understood to have seen a request to leave Old Kampala Police station denied and will now have to face a judge next week.
The retired midfielder-cum-forward who featured for the likes of Vipers SC, Express FC, KCCA FC and Congolese giants TP Mazambe in his playing days, was arrested on Friday while holding a peaceful demonstration at the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) headquarters in Mengo.
The SportsNation has learnt that Police denied him a Bond despite presenting medical documents that show he has a heart problem.
However, by the time of writing, his lawyers were still trying to negotiate for his release on medical terms.
Mutyaba who is being charged with staging an unlawful demonstration will now be paraded in court next week.
Before his arrest, Mutyaba and a group of youths had camped outside the Federation’s headquarters asking FUFA to account for the money that comes in and also pay arrears that are owed to national team players.
Mutyaba also accuses the FUFA President, Moses Magogo and his administration for failing to account for the salaries of Cranes players that come in from the government on a monthly basis.
Recently, Magogo came out to claim that some players have no right to demand for money after “playing sh**y football” at the just concluded CHAN championships in Cameroon.
Mutyaba has also been undergoing a fierce social media and cyber battle with Cranes team manager Patrick Ntege over similar matters.
