Michael Muhumuza: Football Fraternity Mourns Death of Proline Goalkeeper

The Ugandan football fraternity was thrown into mourning following the death of goalkeeper Michael Muhumuza.

The shot stopper who plied his trade at Big League side Proline FC, was pronounced dead on Saturday morning.

The cause of his death has not been confirmed but it is said that he has been ill for a long while.

On July 25 this year, via his Facebook account, Muhumuza wrote: “It’s beeb almost a year and half I hage spent down due to an illness! Already missing the weekly training sessions, the matchdays, the fun associated with playing alongside friends. Looking forward to getting back to full training and hence full fitness. Anytime soon.”

Proline have on Saturday confirmed the passing away of their goalkeepeer.

“We have waken up to sad news sudden death of our own Player Muhumuza Micheal that happened this morning,” a statement from Proline stated.

“His body has been transferred to Mulago for postmortem. Burial Arrangements will be communicated in due course. May His Soul Rest In Peace!”

Muhumuza signed for Proline FC from Kitara FC and has also had loan spells at UPDF FC before returning to the Lugogo-based side.

“FUFA is saddened of the untimely demise of Proline FC Player Micheal Muhumuza who passed away on Saturday,” said the Federation.

“Our Sincere heartfelt condolences to the Club and family. May the Lord give the family, relatives and friends strength in this time of grief.”
