•Kumi University 2-0 IUEA
Kumi University eased past Kansanga based International University of East Africa (IUEA) to get off the mark in the University Football League played in Kumi.
Emmanuel Guya gave the hosts the lead in the first half before Aliga Malesi doubled the tally in the 69th minute.
Kumi University started with a lot of energy as they pressed for an early lead and their first chance fell to Etinu whose header went wide off Aliga’s cross after being set by Oyet.
Aliga once again found Asige who was betrayed by his first touch that was cleared by the visitors before Asige combined with Oyet to set Asige but his shot was pushed for a corner.
Asige thought he had given the hosts’ the lead but his goal was cancelled for offside.
The host’s pressure finally paid off with a deserved goal from Guya in the 18th minute who tapped in Asige’s long ball that bounced in the box.
As they were pressing for more, Oyet was denied by the Goalkeeper Ssenyonjo when he tried to lift the ball over the Custodian before the Shot stopper made another double save to deny Aliga and Oyet.
The hosts started the second half from where they left, this time Aliga hit the woodwork after cutting inside before Asige freekick was easily saved by the Goalkeeper.
The visitors rare attempt at goal fell to Tito Tong but his shot went over the bar.
In the 69th Aliga doubled Kumi’s lead to end IUEA’s hopes of an equaliser.
The visitor’s wasted another chance through Amiwa whose strike went wide off Oweka’s Cross before Amiwa glorious chance went straight to the Goalkeeper as the visitors search for a consolation.
Kumi University moves joint top alongside UCU with 3 points who also won their first match with the same margin while IUEA and Victoria University occupy the bottom two spots in Group A without a point.
