NBL: UCU Canons Seek To Extend Winning Start

Friday, April 8
•Victoria University Vs Our Saviour – 6:30pm
•UPDF Tomahawks Vs UCU Canons – 8:30pm

UCU Canons will hope to maintain their unbeaten start when they face off with UPDF Tomahawks as the Tusker Lite sponsored NBL continues at Lugogo.

The Canons, 2019 finalists, have won four from as many games this season.

They beat KIU Titans 74-66 in the opener before overcoming Tropical Royals, Falcons and KCCA Panthers.

That win against KCCA was hard fought, and the side showed great resilience after trailing 7-18 after the first quarter.

Despite going on to win by almost the last play of the game, some UCU weaknesses were laid bare and it remains to be seen if UPDF can capitalise from that.

Fadhil Chuma

No UCU player outside Fadhil Chuma scored in double digits on the night KCCA would have at least forced overtime if they executed their last play.

UCU who also made 26 turnovers, were out-rebounded and shot 4-from-28 from outside the three point line.

They face a UPDF Tomahawks side that has proved to be a hard nut to crack in recent years because of their physicality.

The Soldier Boys, coached by Baker Mande Kyambadde, will be hoping to return to winning ways after suffering a 49-65 loss against City Oilers last month, their first this season.

They have had a couple of days to prepare and will seek to regain their recent momentum that saw the side beat Tropical Royals, JKL Dolphins and Our Saviour in their three opening games.

Jonathan Egau will be facing his former side, UCU.
