Kitante Eagles Vs Warriors

In the replay of the championship semifinals clash, Warriors RFC redeemed themselves as they emerged triumphant with an impressive 31-9 victory over Elgon Wolves.

Hamza Kinyai’s exceptional individual effort was crucial in propelling the Warriors to secure their place in the championship finals.

Kinyai, who was astounding, amassed an impressive 26 points, scoring three tries, three penalties, and one conversion.

Peter Nyeko contributed a try to complement Kinyai’s performance, totalling four tries, comfortably erasing their past unrecognised 10-15 defeat to their opponents in the initial face off to seal their place in the championship final against Kitante Eagles.

The Elgon Wolves, who had initially emerged victorious in the first encounter, had their previous win nullified by URU due to fielding ineligible players.

In the replay, they were only able to secure nine points, from three penalties successfully taken by Hamisi Katumba giving up their previously earned spot in the final.

Looking ahead, the Warriors now face their final hurdle in the form of the Kitante Eagles—who are their central league counterparts.

In the Central league, Warriors lost both legs to Eagles and came second behind the latter, who were eventual league champions having an unbeaten run.

The final will be played on Saturday 17th June, 2023, at a venue that is yet to be determined by URU and will be Warriors’ chance to redeem themselves against Eagles and stand a chance at returning to the rugby premiership league.
