Federation of Uganda Basketball Association might have wrongly applied the rules after Power was given a walkover against UCU Canons.

The scheduled National Basketball League game between UCU Canons and Power on Friday was not played.

The Canons were at the wrong end of a FUBA ruling on colour-clash after the Mukono-based side donned blue jerseys which were clashing with Power’s.

Per rules, the home team is supposed to put on lighter colours compared to the Visitors.

After consultations, the umpires together with the Match Commissioner deemed that the match cannot go on.

And Power consequently got a walkover (20-00) as UCU Canons had not moved with an alternative kit.

The decision left Canons reeling, and a couple of fans hard by the decision after paying Sh10,000 on entrance.

But the disturbing bit is that UCU Canons might have been wrongly judged.

In the first round of this reverse fixture, April 21 2023 to be specific, UCU Canons was home team when they beat Power 81-50!

Meaning, in the second round, the roles should have been reversed. With Power as the home team while UCU Canons as the Visitors.

Per that precedence, Power should then be at fault while UCU Canons take the walkover victory.

FUBA is yet to give a full and detailed statement about the matter.

As it stands, UCU Canons have now lost five games in a row!

In the Lady’s fixture, Susan Becca Aanyau scored a game high 17 points and 10 rebounds as KCCA Leopards beat JT Lady Jaguars 55-54.

This is the second time a team gets a walkover due to colour clash – Ndejje Angels got a walkover against Kampala Rockets in June at YMCA.
