Villa Win To Push Us More – Ssenyondo

Kitara FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo says their opening league win against SC Villa will push them more this season.

The newcomers stunned SC Villa on Friday at Wankulukuku thanks to Denis Omedi and a late own goal.

Charles Lwanga equalised for SC Villa before halftime and the game looked to be heading to a stalemate.

But Kitara, who had slowed down in the second half, got a late winner in added time through Elvis Ngonde whose attempted clearance went into his net.

“I want to win so much, but there is no better win in football than a last-minute goal because you are very sure that there is a little too late for the opponent to find an equaliser,” Ssenyondo said.

“We are happy to win especially this victory coming against SC Villa. I told my players that is not the fixture we wanted to start with but it’s what we got and we had to remain positive.”

It was a good and resilient display from this new looking Kitara side under Ssenyondo who gave debuts to a couple of new signings including player of the match new signing Ibrahim Magandazi.

“Magandazi is actually a good player, and if you remember that goal we conceded he was outside receiving treatment.”

Kitara who won just three games in their previous appearance 2020/21 season before relegation, will be targeting a place in the top half of the table.

Next on their menu is UPDF FC at Masindi Stadium before Gaddafi (A) to complete the month.

“The league is just starting, but this win against Villa has given us a good platform to push for more. It’s a huge motivation and comes as a big boost,” Ssenyondo added.

The Club is on a drive to build their own stadium – Kitara FC stadium – with construction already ongoing at Butema.
