URA FC are set to announce Uganda Cranes legend David Obua as their next head coach, just a few weeks after completing his UEFA A Diploma in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Obua has signed a one year employment contract with the Tax Collectors, and this will be his first managerial job in UPL.

Obua was present at the Bombo Grounds as URA drew 0-0 away to UPDF in their league opener. He will be on the touchline this Friday, 22nd September as the Tax Collectors host Gaddafi, according to the plans in place at the moment.

The head coach position at URA has been vacant since the demise of Sam Timbe in August. Assistant coach, Fred Muhumuza has since been managing the team on interim basis, a short term spell in which he led them to the final of the FUFA Super 8 preseason tournament.

As a player, Obua needs no introduction, he made a very big name for himself as a lethal left-footed Uganda Cranes forward.

In his industrious career, the former Uganda Cranes captain played for Police FC, Raleigh Capital Express, Wilmington Hammerheads, Kaizer Chiefs and Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premier League.

As regards his coaching career, the CV is not as big, but he has worked in the Uganda Premier League before, as assitant to George Nsimbe at Maroons. He has also previously handled Lango Province in the FUFA Drum tournament.

The UEFA A Diploma that Obua aquired in August is an Advanced Coaching Award that ideally was to prepare him for professional and semi-professional Leagues or top amateur Leagues, but for now, he will start in Uganda, with URA.
