NBL Finals: KIU, JKL Evenly Poised Ahead of Game Three

Wednesday, October 18
•JKL Lady Dolphins Vs KIU Rangers – 7pm (1-1)
•City Oilers Vs KIU Titans – 9pm (2-0)

KIU Rangers and JKL Lady Dolphins are set to clash in game three of the NBL finals as the series shift to Indoor Arena in Lugogo.

This will be followed by a game four that will take place on Thursday (previously Friday) at the same venue.

The best-of-seven series stands at 1-1 after the Lady Dolphins secured a 62-48 victory in game two on Sunday at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

KIU struggled in Game Two, getting out-rebounded 67-40, and will need their big players like Rose Amaniyo, Dorcas Maronbera, and Stella Nanfuka to be more assertive in the paint.

These players were a no-match to JKL’s Hope Akello, Becky Longom, and Taudencia Oluoch on the boards.

KIU’s offense faced challenges, struggling not only with ball movement but also with creating open shots for their perimeter shooters.

Except for Perus Nyamwenge, who tallied 18 points, no KIU Rangers player reached double digits in scoring.

Forward Sharon Kirabo, typically a reliable scorer, managed only six points in 15 minutes, and her layup game needs improvement as KIU Rangers must strive to capitalize on every opportunity against the star-studded JKL side.

On the other side, JKL believes momentum is in their favor and aims to take control of the series, even though they tend to start games slowly.

Coaches Mande Juruni (also with Oilers) and Henry Malinga have not effectively managed their rotations, but will take credit for notably extracting solid performances from some individuals like Longom, who has been brilliant in these playoffs including a contribution of 15 points and 18 rebounds in Game Two.
