JKL Lady Dolphins edged KIU Rangers to win 61-58 in game three of the Women NBL finals series at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

This win propelled the Lady Dolphins to a 2-1 lead in the best of seven finals series, setting the stage for an exciting Game Four scheduled for Thursday.

But JKL had to fend off a late surge by KIU Rangers, in a game they should have won comfortably after a powerful start.

JKL seized a 21-14 lead after the first quarter, forcing the KIU Rangers into a catch-up game from that point onward.

Despite falling behind by 12 points inside the fourth quarter, the Rangers threaded a remarkable 9-0 run, reducing the deficit to just three points as the game neared its conclusion.

With approximately five seconds left on the clock, the KIU Rangers had a golden opportunity to tie the game, but Ines Kanyamunza’s three-pointer rimmed out.

Once again, JKL dominated the boards, outclassing KIU with a staggering 55-38 lead in rebounds, with Becky Longom doing the damage after an impressive 21 rebounds.

Brenda Ekone and Flavia Oketcho contributed significantly to the Lady Dolphins’ victory, scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Hope Akello added nine points and seven rebounds to the tally.

On the other side, Ines Kanyamunza led the KIU Rangers with a game-high 17 points, while Sharon Kirabo and Perus Nyamwenge managed 11 points each, although their efforts fell short in the end.
