In the Jinja derby at Njeru, BUL secured a 1-0 victory over Busoga United at Njeru, furthering their lead at the top of the table.

Alex Kitata’s eighth goal of the season propelled BUL six points clear of second-placed Kitara.

Kitata scored from a well-measured header off Ibrahim Mugulusi’s corner kick to decide the Busoga region derby.

And Busoga United, with 12 points, remains in the red zone, continuing their winless streak for five games.

BUL dominated from the onset with Kitata’s early missed header followed by Mwere’s long-range shot that hit the crossbar.

However, his subsequent header from Mugulusi’s corner found the mark, putting BUL in the lead at the half-hour mark.

Busoga’s attempts, including Logono’s free header and Ajo’s blocked attempt, were fruitless, while Logono’s close chances post-restart also missed the mark.

BUL goalkeeper Tom Ikara denied Emmanuel Ajo while Ronald Otti’s goal-line clearance prevented Basham Mugwa’s opportunity.

Later on, Fredrick Ngalo’s goal-line clearance stopped Kitata from securing a brace for BUL.

BUL’s next fixture will see them face Gaddafi FC on January 3, while Busoga United will host Kitara FC on Tuesday, January 2.
