UCU Canons Overcome Kampala Rockets

In their opening match of the 2024 National Basketball League, UCU Canons secured a triumphant start with a 69-58 victory over Kampala Rockets at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

After trailing 16-15 in the first quarter, the Canons rallied to claim a 33-28 lead at halftime.

Dominating the third quarter with a 25-12 score, they maintained control, securing an 11-point advantage.

Marvin Jesse Okurut led the Canons with 14 points, supported by Ekirapa Zachariah’s 12 points.

Despite missing key player Brian Jimmy Otim, UCU showcased a strong performance.

Shafik Kinyera and Niyonshuti Samuel stood out for the Rockets, contributing 14 points each, with Samuel also providing five assists.

Francis ‘Odom’ Kasinde’s 10 rebounds showcased the Rockets’ resilience.

Despite conceding more turnovers (28-24), UCU claimed a 50-45 rebounding victory.
