KIU Titans seek to get the 2024 NBL second round on a high note as they face off against the UCU Canons at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Titans wrapped up the first round in third place with eight wins in 11 games, trailing behind the leaders City Oilers (10-1) and Nam Blazers (8-3).

Julius Lutwama’s side is aiming to secure a strong position for the playoffs and steer clear of facing the City Oilers until the finals, with the nine-time winners favourites to finish the regular season atop the standings.

Their victory in the first round clash with the Canons (83-52) sets a promising precedent, although the upcoming encounter may present new challenges if UCU brings their A-game.

The addition of Ivan Lumanyika, who featured in the last two games of the first round, will undoubtedly bolster the Titans’ lineup for the intense battles ahead.

Tonight marks the season debut of Peter Obleng, adding fresh momentum to the Titans’ roster.

However, the team faces setbacks with Captain Collins Kasujja sidelined and Pierre Kasereka Tembo nursing a shoulder injury, the latter may feature if team medic permits.

Meanwhile, for the Canons, the likely return of Jimmy Otim and Jerry Kayanga promises to strengthen their squad after missing the previous win over Livingstone.

UCU finished the first round in fifth with seven wins and four losses, and with a stronger roster that includes Peter Sifuma and Joel Kayiira among others, they will fancy their chances to climb the standings.
