Kampala Rockets pulled off a stunning victory over the KCCA Panthers, prevailing 82-80 in overtime at the YMCA court in Wandegeya during a National Basketball League matchup.

With the addition of Luak Ruai, who made an impactful debut with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, the Rockets showcased a revitalized performance.

Although Ruai had the chance to secure the win in regulation time, a missed layup at the buzzer forced the game into overtime.

Pauti Ozias Kikomba led the Rockets with an impressive double-double, contributing 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Francis Kasinde and Samuel Garang chipped in with 15 and 13 points respectively.

Despite strong efforts from Emmanuel Odongkara (20), Stephen Otoa (13), and Aaron Trevor Ojoo (10) of KCCA, their performance fell short.

The game was tightly contested, with the score tied after the first quarter, the Rockets leading by six points at halftime, and holding an 11-point advantage at one stage before KCCA mounted a comeback to force overtime.

In the crucial extra period, a decisive layup by John Dombo at the buzzer secured the victory for the Rockets.

This win marks the third victory of the season for the Rockets, as they aim to mount a strong second-round campaign to avoid relegation.

On the flip side, the loss marks the fifth defeat of the season for KCCA.
