Kampala Rockets extended their winning streak with a remarkable 70-67 victory against UCU Canons in a National Basketball League clash at Lugogo.

This marks their third consecutive win in the second round, a stark improvement from their single win in the initial round.

The team’s impressive performance, fueled by the acquisitions of Luak Ruai and Christian Ndibu, has dispelled any doubts about their ability to avoid relegation.

Notably, three Kampala Rockets players achieved a double-double: Ruai with 14 points and 13 rebounds, Ndibu with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Pauti Ozias Kikomba contributing 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Kur Garang also reached double digits with 14 points.

Although they led 19-10 after the first quarter, their advantage narrowed to two points by halftime. UCU Canons briefly took the lead, 53-50, after the third quarter, setting the stage for a fiercely contested final period, during which the lead changed hands multiple times.

With the game tied at 65-65 and two minutes remaining, Ruai’s decisive layup propelled Kampala Rockets ahead and held on to secure a victory. UCU’s Jerry Kayanga and Peter Sifuma missed crucial shots in the closing moments, sealing the win for Kampala Rockets.

The loss marks the sixth defeat for UCU Canons in 15 games, as they join Ndejje University and KCCA Panthers in succumbing to Kampala Rockets’ dominance in the second round.
