Busoga Stun Express To Keep Survival Hopes Alive

Busoga United defeated Express 2-1 at Wankulukuku to keep their survival hopes in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) alive.

The Jinja based side, after picking three points away from home on Sunday have now moved four points clear of the red zone.

In the game played at Wankulukuku, Busoga scored two first half goals within the first ten minutes of the game, Emmanuel Ajo, who was voted Man Of The Match netted a brace in a space of just three minutes.

Ajo scored his sixth of the season to put the visitors ahead after just seven minutes played, before scoring again to double Busoga’s lead in the tenth minute, taking his tally to seven league goals so far.

Busoga went into the halftime break with a vital 2-0 lead. Just five minutes after returning for the second half, Isaac Wagoina pulled one back for Express, his thirteenth goal in the league so far, but it just wasn’t enough to inspire a comeback for the Red Eagles who went on to fall at the hands of their Sunday visitors.

As it stands, Busoga United are 13th of 16 teams, having accumulated 25 points from 26 games, comprising 6 wins, 7 draws and 13 losses – four points more than UPDF in the 14th position on the table.

Next up for Busoga are three tricky fixtures against three title contenders – they will visit Kitara (48) on Saturday, May 11 before hosting Vipers (46) and BUL (49) on Tuesday, May 14 and Saturday, May 18 respectively.
