Busoga United coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko has blamed his players after a shocking elimination from this year’s Uganda Cup against Busia Young.

Busoga were beaten 2-1 by Eastern Regional league club Busia Young FC in a game played at Busia Integrated Primary school playground.

The coach commented that his players didn’t play wholeheartedly and also underrated the lower division side.

“My players underated the Busia team, you saw how David Bagoole played, he was not playing wholeheartedly like when he is playing super league sides,” said Bogore.

“They also feared the ground, it was a bare ground, so they played cautiously. It was a good game for the home side though.

“Busia came with the morale, they played their hearts out. Like I had anticipated, the game was intense and the hosts have played a good game and takes the day.”

Onduparaka and Vipers are the other top flight teams that were given marching orders out of this Uganda Cup following defeats at round of 64.

At an earlier stage, Busia eliminated Galaxy FC to reach the round of 64.

Last year, Busoga United bundled out courtesy of Onduparaka while in 2018, they were ousted by Seeta United.

Busoga will now shift attention to Uganda Premier League where they have won three games in a row and will visit Onduparaka on Tuesday, January 28 at Greenlight Stadium, Arua.
