“This was our last friendly game, it was a good build up where we have tested all the players, the speed was very okay, the attitude was very positive and we are ready to go for the game,” said Coach Ayub Khalifa.

“It has been an essential match that I have used to scrutinize all the departments in a match situation. The striking line has been sharp today and we hope for victory in Ethiopia if we can play at this rate. We have no new injury concerns at the moment.”

The team that started preparations on January 16, will fly out on Friday morning at 3 AM aboard the Ethiopian Airlines and arrive in Bahar Dar at 8.30AM via Addis Ababa, according to FUFA website.

Coach Ayub who expressed his team’s readiness for the return leg, added that his side could have won the return leg with a good margin if his striking department was at its best.

Uganda, courtesy of goals from Nalukenge and Nagadya, beat Ethiopia 2-0 at Lugogo and will be hoping for a positive result to reach the next round.

If this all comes to pass, Uganda U17 team will face winner between Tanzania and Burundi in the second preliminary round.
