Bright Stars Player Issues Come-And-Get-Me Plea To Villa

Rock solid defender Derrick Ngoobi says he is ready to join the 16-time Uganda Premier League Champions SC Villa after his contract with Bright Stars expired at the end of the season.

Ngoobi has been linked with SC Villa since the league was ended by FUFA due to Covid19 pandemic.

The Jogoos are set to go big in the transfer market amidst player exodus at the club.

Charles Lwanga has already joined KCCA while Yayo Lutimba, Bashir Mutanda, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Ambrose Kirya and David Owori are reportedly on their way out.

“I am willing and ready to sign for SC Villa if at all we reach the end of talks,” Ngoobi disclosed to The-SportsNation.

“Though my former Club (Bright Stars) is still negotiating with me about staying at the club, but I want a new challenge now, so am prioritising a move to SC Villa.”

Ngoobi was one of the players who put in a good shift for Bright Stars to help the club beat relegation in what was one of the most difficult season for the club.

Bright Stars, who moved away from Champions Stadium in Mwererwe, needed to bring in Paul Kiwanuka after sacking coach Muhammad Kisekka down the stretch.

The side finished 12th, two spots above safety, with 29 points.

“In the first round we, struggled because of some factors, but we tried to improve in the second half of the season after getting a new manager,” adds the former Luwero United defender.

Bright Stars’ only win in the first round was a 1-0 triumph against Onduparaka. They lost seven and drew as many in the first round.
