UPL Transfers: Goalkeeper Bwete Returns To UPL

Uganda Premier League side UPDF FC are set to announce the signing of goalkeeper Brian ‘Ziggi’ Bwete from Ethiopia side Shire Indeselassie

He was in Zambia a season before with Mufulira Wanderers.

The shot-stopper joins the Army side as a replacement for Eric Kibowa who featured for them on loan the previous season.

Eye-witnesses claim to have seen the custodian in the UPDF FC goal during their 3-1 loss to Fufa Big League side Proline in a preseason game at Lugogo on Friday last week.

Bwete brings with him vast experience and maturity to the club having represented the country with the national team.

He has also featured for a host of clubs including SC Villa, URA, Lweza, BUL FC, CD Bukavu Dawa in DR Congo, Shire Indaselassie in Ethiopia and Mufulira Wanderers in Zambia.

The goalkeeper joins other new arrivals like: Kimbowa Sharif who was signed from Busoga United, Oscar Agaba and Wasswa Shaban, the pair joined as free agents following their release by West Nile Giants Onduparaka.

Reports have also further linked the club to midfielders Ibrahim Wammanah and Sam Kintu who enjoyed loan spells at the club the previous season.

UPDF FC have however lost Brian Kayanja and Robert Eseru who joined KCCA FC and Arua Hill respectively. The latter is, however, yet to be confirmed by the club.

The Bombo based side have also since named Brian Senyondo as a replacement for now new Mbarara City head coach Kefa Kisala.
