Police Beat Busoga United to pick maiden win

Police FC registered their maiden win of the season following their 3-1 win over Busoga United on Saturday.

A first Half strike from Kakonge Arafat and each a goal from substitutes Brian Mayanja Muluuli and Juma Balinya ensured that the Cops picked their first three points of the season.

Anwaru Mustafa Ntege had earlier on put the Visitors ahead, scoring from a spot but his goal wasn’t enough to save his side.

The opening exchanges saw a limited chances from both sides, given the waterlogged turf after a heavy down pour that limited the easy flow of the ball.

However, it was the Visitors who Scored first through a penalty in the 16th minute after Ntege was fouled by Police FC defender George Kiryowa in the forbidden area. From the resultant, Ntege took responsibility and scored to put his side ahead.

There on Police, who fielded a young side dorminated play but looked blunt up-front.

Finally at the stroke of half time, Kakonge levelled matters for the Cops, heading in home off a well delivered cross from left back Emmanuel Mugume.

Police had chances to score more but missed on two occasions. First Kakonge saw his effort outside the are saved for a corner before Mugume shot wide when inside the area.

For the Visitors, goal scorer Ntege missed two glorious opportunities to score more when infront of goal. First he missed when in one on one with goalkeeper Tom Ikara before heading wide off a well delivered cross from Onzima Peter.

At the restart of the second stanza, it was an end to end encounter as both teams searched for a second on the day.

For the hosts, the introduction of Duncan Sseninde, Brian Muluuli and Juma Balinya brought in more life as the Cops started opening up and it paid off with two goals.

With six minutes past the hour mark, off the bench, Muluuli doubled his side’s lead, tapping in home after a poor Clearance by the Busoga United defenders.

There on, Police were dorminant, lanched more attacks and it wasn’t a surprise when they added on another goal through substitute Balinya, who made it three in the 81st minutes, scoring from a spot after Muluuli was fouled in the area.

There on, despite the endless attacks from the opposition, Police held on to register their first win of the season.

Victory ensured that Police FC picked their maiden win of the season after eleven games played to move to six points.

For Busoga United, they suffer their seventh loss of the season and remain on seven points after ten games played.

What Next-
Police will be away to Tooro United next week on Tuesday at Buhinga while Busoga United will host Sc Villa the following day at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru.
