Muhindo Nets Late Penalty to Deny KCCA FC

SC Villa played out to a 1-all draw against arch rivals KCCA FC at the FUFA technical center in Njeru.

Striker Benson Muhindo came off the bench to net a late penalty on the 90th minute of the game canceling out a Mato Rodgers goal which put the visitors ahead in the 70th minute.

A tense first half of the game saw KCCA FC squander various scoring opportunities as the hosts took the first chance on goal as early as the 8th minute but Isaac Ogwang free kick went wide.

The Kasasiro boys kept pushing for the opener but lacked sharpness in front of goal with Martin Ssenkooto made a couple saves to deny Dennis Iguma and Arafat Usama as SC Villa kept their nerves high to end the first stanza on level.

In the second half of the game, KCCA FC failed to utilize the early chances to kill off the game as Charles Lwanga missed what could have been a beautiful goal to watch as Senkooto was called into action to save the Joogos once again in the 50th minute of the game.

KCCA FC wing back Mato Rodgers caused a lot of threat to the Villa back line with dangerous crosses into the box and in the 70th minute his cross was parried away by Senkooto for a corner. A well taken resulting corner by Brian Majwega fell onto Mato who headed in a beauty to give the visitors a lead.

SC Villa players were in protest of the goals citing that it went outside the net but the centre referee was on spot to award the goal despite the goal nets having lope holes.

SC Villa introduced a couple of players in Benson Muhindo and Oscar Mawa to add up some energies up front and it paid off as a speeding Muhindo heading to goal was fouled inside the penalty box by Herbert Achai in the 89th minute.

Muhindo stood up himself to take the penalty beating KCCA FC shot stopper Benjamin Ochan to draw the game level in the 90th minute.

The Kasasiro boys remain unbeaten despite the draw and now sit on top of the log with 27points just only four points ahead of second placed Vipers on 23points.

SC Villa occupy the 12th position on the log with 10 points garnered from the 10 games they have played so far.
