URA FC put up a scintillating show in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 match played against Calvary FC at Midigo Primary School Ground in Yumbe – West Nile

The Uganda Premier League (UPL) side came from behind to heavily defeat the FUFA Big League entity 4-1 to qualify to the tournament’s round of 16 in quite spectacular fashion.

The Tax Collectors, coached by David Obua first looked unsettled, conceding a very early in the game as Nathan Oloro put the home side ahead after just 16 minutes played.

Calvary led the game, not until the 51st minute when Ibrahim Wamannah got the equaliser for the visitors with a long range effort that paid off, brilliantly assisted by Norman Namanya who chested the ball back for him to shoot.

The Tax Collectors, so clinical and ruthless would later score three quick goals in succession within 15 minutes (from 75′-89′) to register a resounding 4-1 victory away from home.

Displaying character and desire to go further in the tournament, URA head coach David Obua made some very tactical second half changes that directly impacted the result of the game.

As the search for goals intensified, Obua introduced Ibrahim Dada and Ivan Ahimbisibwe in the 71st minute. Dada scored within five minutes after coming on, putting URA ahead in the 75th minute.

In the 85th minute, another second half substitute Ahimbisibwe capitalised on the Calvary goalkeeper’s mistake to score in an empty net after pressing him to make it 3-1 in favor of the visitors.

With just a minute left before clocking 90, Dada completed his brace, scoring URA’s forth of the day to seal a big 4-1 win very far away from home.

Three-times Uganda Cup winners, URA are now one of the only ten top division teams still standing in the 50th edition of the oldest nationally recognized football tournament in the country.

Meanwhile, Calvary’s ejection means there’s now only Big League team (Police) left in the competition. There are actually more third division clubs (5) left in the tournament, than second division teams (1).

URA now join Pakwach Youngstars, Kitara, Young Simba, Police, Vipers, KCCA, Pajule Lions, Express, Bright Stars, BUL, NEC, Dove, Villa, Busoga United and Iganga Young to complete the list of all the 16 teams that are still left in the competition.
