In a display of sheer dominance, Brenda Ekone scored more Kampala University’s entire team combined as JKL Lady Dolphins cruised to a 108-35 victory in a National Basketball League game at Lugogo on Sunday.

Ekone, who has been the league’s leading scorer for the past five seasons, delivered another stellar performance with 36 points.

Nicknamed “the road runner,” the former Nkumba Lady Marines star shot 14-for-22 from the field, including three three-pointers, and converted five of her six free-throws.

Additionally, Ekone contributed six rebounds and three assists during her 24 minutes on the court.

This tally surpasses the 33 points Ekone scored against Magic Stormers last month.

Adding to JKL’s offensive prowess, four more players reached double digits in scoring. Evelyn Nakiyinji contributed 14 points, Becky Longom scored 13, Ritah Imanishimwe added 11, and Thelma Delane Toskin secured 10 points.

Despite limited playing time, Hope Akello managed to make her mark with 8 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes, for a team that played without Flavia ‘Flirsh’ Oketcho.

For Kampala University, Nuwasasira Nicholah and Gloriah Aya were the leading scorers with 12 and 10 points respectively. Aya also recorded an impressive double-double with 11 rebounds. However, the team struggled to keep up with JKL’s pace, as evidenced by their 75-56 rebounding deficit.

Throughout the game, Kampala University faced significant challenges, committing 43 turnovers and scoring just 5 points off the bench. The loss marked their seventh consecutive defeat of the season.

With this triumph, JKL Lady Dolphins extended their winning streak to six games, having previously defeated YMCA Lady Hamstars (via walkover), Miracle Ravens, A1 Challenge, Magic Stormers, and UCU Lady Canons.
