The fourth edition of the Queens of Chess Rapid Chess Tournament ended with a new champion after Milly Takali raced to the title undefeated.

The event organised to celebrate chess ladies had all the previous three winners take part, but a new name emerged champion.

Woman Fide Master Ivy Amoko, the inaugural winner and Safinah Mugide, the defending champion had both been tipped as favourites, but Takali outcompeted the duo as she finished with 7.5 points.

Takali whose Olympiad hopes crushed against Amoko during the Super 14 didn’t meet the WFM in this competition, but she beat Mugide who she faced in the fifth round.

The Olympian outwitted everyone except Margaret Musoke Nassiwa who she drew with in the last round.
