Kampala Queens’ title aspirations faced another setback as they settled for a 2-2 draw against Makerere University in a FUFA Women’s Super League clash at Lugogo.

Teddy Najjuma nodded Kampala Queens into the lead before halftime, maintaining it until Sharon Namatovu leveled the score with 15 minutes remaining.

Namatovu then stunned the hosts by putting the visitors ahead with her ninth goal of the season in the 85th minute.

However, their lead was short-lived, as Lilian Kasubo capitalized on an empty net after the Makerere goalkeeper ventured out of the goal area.

Kampala Queens, missing Zainah Nandede due to injury, squandered a significant chance to narrow the gap on leaders Kawempe Muslim, who defeated UCU Lady Cardinals in Mukono on Saturday.

With this draw, Kampala Queens fall further behind in the title race, extending their streak to four consecutive draws. Their previous matches ended in draws against UCU, Rines, and Uganda Martyrs.

In their last six league games, they’ve only amassed eight points out of a possible 18.

Now standing at 27 points, they trail leaders Kawempe Muslim by seven points, with the latter having played an extra game.

The draw lifts She Mak to seventh place with 16 points, securing a two-point cushion above the relegation zone.
