Preview: Morley Under Pressure Again

The win against Vipers two weeks ago at Lugogo was a sigh of relief for KCCA Coach Morley Byekwaso.

But as many thought that the poor days are in the past, a shocking 1-0 loss away to Maroons in Luzira followed.

Fans have showed their discontent about Morley, and in fact, during that Vipers game, placards were seen reading: “Win or lose, Morley must go.”

How did we reach? Short story, KCCA are not playing to their known identity of tik-tak.

The gaffer has good players at his disposal but he has struggled to squeeze the best out of them.

Against Maroons, KCCA barely asked questions going forward beside that penalty moment which was also skied by Congolese striker Kankonde.

Pressure is on the gaffer to deliver once again, and it said that anything less than a win might see him packing for good.

They have to get the goals, and must do without striker Muhammad Shaban. The other striker Kankonde is yet to open the club account.

And Morley might be forced to look at other options in Charles Lwanga, Brian Aheebwa and Brian Kayanja.

There is no room for error, and Morley must be aware that his head might be delivered on a spike if he fails to deliver a perfect result.

The Visitors (Blacks Power) have scored two goals this season, and it has not been a good run for the side that is in it’s debut season in top flight.

But the acquisition of Hassan Mbalangu at the top may change tides for a side that is languishing in the lower echelons of the table.

They played a goalless draw against Arua Hill in their recent encounter and will hope to build on that result to pull off a shocker in the capital.

It might be a big task to ask Blacks Power pick a point at Lugogo but the side will bank on KCCA FC’s inconsistency this season.

The other subplot in this one is Mbalangu who was a top contender for KCCA FC’s assistant Job and it is said that he held firm talks with Morley, before the team settled for Sam ‘Kadidi’ Charles Nsaziro Ssenyange.

This will be their first meeting in the league but the two sides met in February 2020 when KCCA FC emerged 2-0 winners in Uganda Cup at the round of 32.

Filbert Obenchan and Peter Magambo scored for the Lugogo-based against Blacks Power who were then called Bukedea Town Council FC.
