Preview: Draw Specialists Bright Stars Fancy Chances Against SC Villa

Bright Stars beat SC Villa home and away last season

Bright Stars will be hoping to pick their first win of the season when they welcome SC Villa at Kavumba recreation ground as match-day six of the Uganda Premier League concludes on Saturday.

The Stars have shared spoils in all their five games this season, including their last match that ended 2-2 away to URA at Nakisunga.

But the game against URA felt like a win for everyone at Bright Stars given the fact that they recovered from two down to pick appoint.

A couple of highlights from that game include Emmanuel Loki coming off the bench to assist Nelson Ssenkatuka the consolation before scoring his own for the equaliser.

The other takeaway has to be some good saves from goalkeeper Hassan Matovu including one that was captured by Next Media photographed Isano, with both receiving a token of appreciation (Sh500,000) from the FUFA President Moses Magogo.

Having done all that, Bright Stars will feel that they have come of age under new coach Asaph Mwebaze and it’s time to climb into the top half of the table as they sit 10th.

Mwebaze’s assistant coach Tom Ssali said ahead of the game: “We have prepared for the game in all aspects, we respect but do not fear SC Villa, yes they are the record champions but that is just a name, they are like other teams.”

The Jogoos start the day in third position with 10 points and will be hoping to close down the gap to just a point away from leaders BUL while a draw will as well see them leapfrog Arua Hill in second position as both sides are tied on points.

Jackson Magera’s charges needed a late goal from youngster Patrick Kakande to pick all maximum points against Busoga United but had failed to impress in the final third the entire game.

They will have to put up a better show at Kavumba if they are to leave the place with anything to show.

Last season at Kavumba, Marvin Youngman scored the only goal of the game to hand Bright Stars a 1-0 win, and the Stars completed a league double at Njeru with Nelson Ssenkatuka brace.
