Preview: Magera Plays Down Title Talk

SC Villa will be seeking to extend their impressive run when they visit wobbling Wakiso Giants in a league game at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

The Jogoos find themselves on top of the league with 40 points, three above second-placed KCCA who have played two games less.

This, has been built by the Club’s winning streak of five games in a row.

But Coach Jackson Magera has watered down title talks.

“For us we are focussing on building the team and playing well. Only that,” Magera told The-SportsNation when asked about the possibility of going all out for a title.

The Jogoos edged Bright Stars, thanks to Charles Bbaale’ strike, in their previous game on return to Wankulukuku after hosting five in Lira at Akii-bua Stadium.

“I told the players to believe in themselves and that there is nothing to worry about. And I am not surprised that they are in this position.”

Against Wakiso Giants, they face a side on a poor run of form. The Purple Sharks have lost their last four league games, including a recent 2-1 defeat against URA at Lugazi.

Wakiso have one win, against Bright Stars, in 10 games, and have two goals to show in their last six games.

This is hugely due to a long list of injured players at the club.

However, Wakiso Giants beat SC Villa 2-1 Wankulukuku in the reverse fixture, a game that spurred Villa’s five game ban and two points deduction after their fans confronted match officials last year in November.
