The Victoria Series are set to bowl off on April 16 at the Lugogo cricket oval.

Five teams including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and UAE are set to take part in this tournament that is designed to develope and promote women cricket.

Uganda Cricket CEO Alan Mugume said: “We are excited to work with PODGAL as the official broadcast partners for the Victoria Series.”

“Their experience should help us put on a quality live stream that will reach far beyond the borders of Uganda. This experience should allow all cricket lovers to be able to follow the series especially with the quality of teams that will participate in this event.”

UCA Operations Manager Joshua Mwanja commented: “First and foremost, we feel privileged to work with Podgal Production because they have their roots in Uganda and are proudly a youthful Ugandan entity.”

“We have worked with them before through third parties like during the International Cricket Council (ICC) events held here recently and through Batball Uganda who contract them.”

Mwanja added that they are looking at having many people following the game especially those that are not going to be able to come to the ground.

“In addition, women sports having such coverage is one way to reach out to the ladies telling them that they can play. We hope this can motivate more young girls to play if they find some role models from the team from people they had previously seen only in newspapers and heard on radio.”

Podgal has produced women’s tournaments including Nigeria Cricket Federation Women’s T20 invitational last month, Women’s Elite league 2023 for UCA and ICC T20 World Cup qualifier 2022 in UAE for cricclubs among others.
