The prestigious Bika Bya Baganda football tournament is set to kick off on Saturday, April 27th, at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
The opening match will feature Mmamba Namakaka against Butiko.
Buganda’s Minister for Sports, Robert Sserwanga, assured the public of tight security following a security meeting. Gates will open at 8:00 am.
Tickets priced at 10,000 Uganda shillings will be available only at the stadium on match day. Students with ID cards and children accompanied by their parents will enjoy free entry.
Before the football opener, the Netball finals will take place at 11:00 am, with the winner being crowned.
Minister Sserwanga called upon clans yet to register for the tournament to do so, emphasizing the potential importance of players registered from recent Ggombolola tournaments.
Hajji Sulaiman Magala, the Bika chairman, encouraged fans to pack Muteesa II Stadium to commemorate the 50th edition of the tournament.
The reigning champions of the Bika Netball competition are Ngeye Clan, while Ngonge holds the title for Bika Football after defeating Mbogo 2-0 in last year’s final.
