UPL: Onduparaka, Vipers Share Spoils In Dull Affair

Vipers’ long trip to Arua yielded a point as the defending champions played to a goalless draw with hosts Onduparaka FC in a league game.

The Venoms who never looked a big threat going forward, will be glad with a point, on a day their title rivals and leaders KCCA FC lost 2-1 to URA FC at Lugogo.

Onduparaka FC, coming into the game at the back of an away league victory against Mbarara was slightly the best team on the day but couldn’t capitalise on their home turf to snatch maximum points.

Ezra Bida charged off Ibrahim Tembo to break free on goal but his effort went a distance wide, with goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora at his mercy.

Viane Ssekajugo at close range shot wide and could have scored later in the second half when his hand ball was un noticed to ran behind Vipers defence his chip went above the net.

The result leaves Onduparaka FC in sixth with 31 points from 21 games. This was the club’s 7th draw of the campaign. The Caterpillars have won eight and lost six.

Next for Onduparaka is another home game against Maroons FC on match day 22.

Vipers, second on the log with 42 points, are just three points below leaders KCCA FC. Next for the Venoms is a big test against Express FC this Friday at Kitende.
