Uganda’s women national Volleyball team rolled over Ethiopia to get off the mark in the Zone V African games women Qualifiers that got underway on Sunday evening at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala.

Led by Captain Eunice Amuron, the side was flawless and received less resistance from Ethiopia right from the start before sealing a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-13) victory in a one way avenue.

Uganda is seeking to top the four team round robin and take the only available slot for the 12tg All Africa Games set for August 19-32, 2019 in Rabat Morocco.

“It was very important to win our first game because it’s only three matches and when you lose any, then you have one foot already out of the championship,” noted Uganda’s coach Tony Lakony.

“We had to win to keep our chances alive. Ethiopia were also good technically but we beat them by our good defense and the energy we had in our serves.

“Am happy that we have won and it will give us a good foundation for the next game. Against Rwanda, we have to be more stable and consistent.”
