Much Anticipation As NGO League Returns Bigger, Better

All is set for the second edition of the Namilyango Old Students (NGO) League that kicks off this Sunday, November 17 at Legends in Lugogo.

The organisers of the NGO league have revealed that 14 teams will take part, an increase from the 10 that participated in the inaugural edition – including defending champions Hornbills.

The teams will play in a nine-aside round robin football format.

Touch Rugby, a non contact sport, has been introduced in this year’s edition.

Sh1M is up for grabs for the overall winner while the runners up will settle for Sh0.5M among other prizes.

It will go underway with the the theme ‘Play. Consort. Donate.’

The organisers have agreed to once again extend support to the ailing community and this season’s proceedings will be channeled among others to the Kikubamutwe community.

“We managed to impact lives last season and we want to go beyond the college and reach out to the community,” said NGO league chairman William Wagage who was speaking to the press on Thursday.

“As Namilyango, we are known for innovation and being a step ahead. We had a successful first season and we want to do it better this year.”

They have lined out partners including Legends Rugby club, Human Diagnostics Uganda Limited, 40 days over 40 Smiles foundation, Coca-Cola, Jaro Hospital, Kitti Sports, All Star Music group and Gabocchi clothing company.
