FIFA’s Samoura Coming To Uganda – What We Know So Far

FUFA communications director Ahmed Hussein Marsha says that Samoura Fatma’s forthcoming visit in Uganda is a sign of trust.

FIFA general Secretary Samoura will be making an official visit to Uganda from January 27-28, FUFA has confirmed.

Samoura will commission the new FUFA building in Mengo and also meet the Hon Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

“This is a great sign of continuation and trust which FIFA has in our FA in regard to undertaking and completing FIFA funded projects,” Ahmed told this website.

“We believe this will open up more opportunities for FUFA from FIFA to take up more projects.”

Does The Visit Has To Do With Recent Magogo Scandal?

FUFA boss Eng Moses Magogo was banned for two months from taking part in any kind of football related activities. A sentence he has already served.

Magogo has repeatedly said that the case, about the sale of FIFA World cup tickets, was closed once and for all.

However, Samoura was last year appointed the Fifa General Delegate for Africa as the international body tried to Improve both governance and administration in Africa (CAF).

Her role was to as well force administrative reforms and depending on that background, few questions will be raised. Is she here to put a lens on the activities of the local federation like it was the case in Egypt?

How appropriate has FUFA used the funds received from FIFA? how far is the Kadiba Project? All those questions are expected to be answered.

Other news in the corridor have it that the planned meeting with Speaker Kadaga is to tell the government not to interfere with football matters.

In 2016, Samoura visited Sierra Leone and addressed the dispute between the country’s football association (SLFA) and local authority.
