Tanzania has petitioned CAF. FUFA

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) remains unmoved by Tanzania’s claims that Uganda used over-age players.

Reports in Tanzania says that the country’s Football Federation (TFF) appealed to CAF about the matter saying Uganda used four players who over 17 years in the recently concluded U17 FIFA Women World Cup Qualifying game in Kampala.

Uganda won 5-0 in Lugogo to overturn a 2-1 deficit in Dar Es Salaam and advance to book a date with Cameroon with a 6-2 aggregate victory.

“They submitted their petition on match day,” said FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein Marsha when reached to comment about the matter.

“Are they complaining that the players don’t have proper documents, on what basis are they raising the petition?”

Marsha also added that they were informed about Tanzania’s complaints from the match commissioner.

The said ‘over-age’ players according to sources in Tanzania include Uganda captain Juliet Nalukenge, Fauziah Najjemba, Grace Aluka and Shamirah Nalugya.

Tanzania’s Citizen newspaper seen by this website, quoting TFF’s Secretary General, expressed his concern on why Uganda did not field Aluka and Nalugya in the first leg.

FUFA’s Marsha, commenting about the above, said:

“It’s not TFF’s job to select players for our teams.”

He added: “The CAF CMS for players shows all proper documentation of the the players entered in the system.”
