Sources: Tanzania Reports Uganda To CAF

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has reported Uganda’s FUFA to Confederation of African Football (CAF), reports in Tanzania have revealed.

TFF claims that Uganda fielded over-age players in the concluded FIFA U17 FIFA World cup qualifier where Uganda won 5-0 to advance with a 6-2 aggregate victory earlier this month.

TFF secretary general Wilfred Kidao, as quoted by Tanzania’s The Citizen newspaper, says that they have filed an appeal to CAF.

The newspaper says that Kidao named the players as Juliet Nalukenge, Fauziah Najjemba, Grace Aluka and Shamirah Nalugya.

The Tanzanians say that the said players featured for the Uganda’s senior team in 2018 and also played in the league in 2015!

Kidao, as quoted by The Citizen paper seen by this website, says: “There are so many questions on how the players could feature for the senior team at 14, which is against CAF directives. In football pathway, it is impossible to have players with the same age.

“We are very serious about the issue. This is because our investment in women’s soccer started many years ago – and is still ongoing.”

The secretary adds: “In 2018, we played against Uganda in a CECAFA tournament – and Nalukenge was on that team. Two years later (today), she is said to be below 17 years of age. Does this mean that she was aged 14 when she featured for the senior team?”

The three said parties – TFF, CAF and FUFA are yet to confirm the developments via their official communication channels.
